Rivium Project – Sustainable Public Transportation (AGV)
Company: AEP Hybrid Power
Solution: Charging System

“Sustainable mobility: How AEP Hybrid Power supports 2getthere in shaping the future”

“2getthere creates transportation systems for both individuals and groups. These systems are efficient, high-quality, and customized for different needs. With over 15 years of experience from various projects, 2getthere aims to develop, market, and implement sustainable transportation systems that are reliable, safe, and available to passengers. Their goal is to offer efficient, top-quality transport while reducing costs. 2getthere collaborates with expert licensing partner ‘Oceaneering’ to make these systems a reality.”

With the request for an automatic guide vehicle (AGV) for public transportation, 2getthere wants to use Lithium water-cooled traction batteries. With the new design there was no space for an onboard charger and a new charging system was needed.

AEP Hybrid power designed and delivered 120 kW opportunity chargers and a range of smaller 36 kW overnight (maintenance charger) for several projects. For vehicle demonstration needs we developed and produced several mobile variants of the 36 kW DC charger for 2getthere including a “climate variant’.

The charger will be supplied by a 400Vac grid and must be able to charge 120kW for 50 seconds (around 300A by 400Vdc, 450 Vdc fully charged). Charged energy will be 1.67 kWh.
The time between the charging of two vehicles is around one minute in harsh environments.

A new need for a charging switching matrix was needed in collaboration with ‘Transdev’.
The Switching Matrix is the “Middleman” between the charger and 6 charge contact plates.
AEP Hybrid Power has developed the Switching Matrix. With a small footprint, the Switching Matrix allows for 6 charging point in one unit. Instead of multiple bulky charging stations, you can install a single charger with a Switching Matrix.

The engineering teams of 2getherre and AEP Hybrid worked together to realize an automated charging system that meets the design requirements and all the mandatory safety standards.

Our charger platforms were selected for the Rivium project. The Rivium Project in Capelle a/d IJssel aims to transform the Rivium Business Park into a vibrant live-work environment, focusing on improving accessibility and sustainability, with a special emphasis on green spaces and eco-friendly solutions.

“We are proud to be a partner of 2getthere in this innovative Dutch project. With the vehicles now successfully operating (early 2024) and receiving final approval for autonomous driving in public transport, we’ve witnessed significant interest from other countries. Through our partnership with 2getthere, we eagerly anticipate exploring new opportunities and challenges in advancing the landscape of electric mobility.”
